Monogram New York, one of the newest condo additions to the city’s skyline, is now complete and welcoming residents in style.
With a killer location at 135 East 47th Street, in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the newly completed 35-story condo building has a striking art deco-inspired architecture that pays tribute to the city’s iconic buildings.
Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, the stylish building offers 191 residences with interiors by acclaimed international design firm Neri&Hu, with a suite of posh amenities that cater to the needs of active city dwellers.
Among them? A sophisticated bar and lounge penthouse with panoramic views of the New York City skyline for all of its residents to enjoy. Dubbed The Sphere, the space includes a reading room with a fireplace, an intimate bar, a private dining room, a catering kitchen, and terraces with striking city views.

Monogram New York’s penthouse lounge

Rather than building another pricey penthouse, the team behind Monogram New York decided to create a space that all residents can use every day, a communal penthouse that can address the specific needs of New Yorkers living in the building.
As such, the newly appointed penthouse lounge — called The Sphere — serves as a sophisticated multi-purpose rooftop enclave where the building’s residents can unwind, relax, and take in the city views anytime, regardless of which floor their condo is located on.
It has a reading lounge, private dining

Reminiscent of a private club, the Sphere is located atop the newly completed building and comes with several inviting spaces meant to bring Monogram New York residents together.
The posh amenity space includes a reading lounge with a fireplace, an intimate bar, and a private dining room with a catering kitchen, all of them enjoying generous skyline views.
A catering kitchen and ample space to host events

Along with a dedicated catering kitchen, Monogram NY’s private dining room and lounge offer residents the possibility to host events and gatherings that are bound to impress their guests.
According to the building’s website, the space can accommodate events ranging “from cocktail tastings and cooking demonstrations to dinner parties and special occasions.”
Picture-perfect views of landmark Manhattan buildings

With Monogram New York located mere steps away from Grand Central Terminal, Fifth Avenue’s renowned shopping corridor, and other iconic Midtown landmarks, it enjoys a stellar location — with views to match.
The Sphere, perched on the highest level of the tower, opens up to generous views of the East River, the Headquarters of the United Nations on the east, and the Chrysler Building on the south.
A bespoke space inspired by the bustling city below

Masterfully appointed by acclaimed design studio Neri&Hu, The Sphere’s vibrant spaces, much like the rest of the building’s interiors, are inspired by the city below, reflecting both its urban bustle and its constantly evolving nature.
“We wanted to create an interior world that would respond and reflect the dual nature of Manhattan – an urban context born out of utilitarian and rational planning, yet also replete with endless transformation and evolution,” Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, the Founding Partners of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office.
“It was important to convey a sense of both collectivism as well as individualism within the residences, so we decided to bring in bespoke and bohemian details into each space. The context inspired us to create an urban sanctuary that feels both communal and individual, and connected to nature in both its lush, vegetative form as well as the carved geological bedrock on which New York City was built.“
Fostering a sense of community through well-designed communal spaces

“The amenity spaces seek to balance a sense of domesticity and a sense of community,” the designers tell us.
“The communal kitchen uses the approach of contrasting public and connected moments as it is layered with rhythmic openings, with more intimate rooms where some deep lounge chairs are gathered next to a green marble fireplace. A sense of the bespoke and bohemian is found throughout in materials like fluted stone, metal, and glass that reinterpret the sculpted and nature-inspired forms found in art deco details.”
Terraces with generous views of landmark New York City buildings

The urban sanctuary Neri&Hu envisioned wouldn’t be complete without terrace spaces to take in the generous views.
Here, residents can step outside for a front-row seat to the city’s most recognizable structures, with iconic fixtures on the New York skyline in full view, including the Chrysler Building and MetLife Building.
The amenity-rich penthouse isn’t reflective of the building’s prices

While you’d expect such ritzy amenity spaces to be found only in the city’s priciest buildings, Monogram New York is by no means a prohibitively expensive condo tower.
Prices at the newly completed building start at just under a million dollars — a relative steal compared to other new residential developments in Manhattan with amenities of a similar caliber. At the time of writing, the most affordable unit in the building is a studio priced at $898,000, with about 8 other units priced under $2 million.
