Georgia has quietly become one of the hottest filming destinations in the United States.
Over the past decade, the Peach State has blossomed into a major hub for television and film production, thanks to its generous tax incentives, diverse landscapes, and growing infrastructure.
With its historic architecture, picturesque small towns, and bustling urban areas, Georgia offers a versatile backdrop that can stand in for basically any location in the world — something filmmakers and TV producers were quick to take notice of.
And you might be surprised to learn that many of the most iconic homes featured in your favorite new TV shows are actually located in Georgia — despite the action of the series taking place in a completely different location.
Netflix in particular has been filming most of its shows here, so expect to see quite a few of your favorite streaming titles on our list.

The “Ozark” lake house
While it may require some upgrading, the house the Byrde family occupies in the Netflix-made Ozark series made many of us daydream about moving next to a lake.
However, don’t go looking for it close to the Ozarks, as the actual home is located in the Peach State, and not in Missouri as the show claims. The house isn’t by the Lake of the Ozarks, but rather by Lake Lanier in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
“The Haunting of Hill House” manor
Fortunately, Hill House is an entirely fictional place, so no worries about being inexplicably lured to it like the Crains. However, a real-life house in LaGrange, Georgia — known as Bisham Manor — was used to film the mansion’s recognizable exteriors.
The Creel house from “Stranger Things”
Much like all the other Stranger Things houses, the spooky, abandoned mansion that took center stage in the 4th season is located in Georgia.
Standing in for the Creel house (or Vecna’s house, depending on how you might like to call it) is a 7-bedroom, 7-bathroom house in Rome, Georgia that’s a magnificent example of Gothic Revival architecture. The real-life home last sold for $1.6 million in November 2022, according to Zillow.
Daniel LaRusso’s house on “Cobra Kai”
Carefully picked to reflect Daniel San’s new status in the world, his luxurious yet homey Tuscan villa on Cobra Kai is said to be located in the affluent Encino neighborhood. But don’t go looking for it in Los Angeles.
The beautiful house is actually located in Marietta, Georgia, and sold in recent years for $2.4 million. Good news for Cobra Kai fans: the new owners said they plan to list it as a vacation rental on Airbnb.
The Salvatore Boarding House from “The Vampire Diaries”
Mystic Falls, VA may be a fictional town, but the Salvatore Boarding House — which was home to members of the Salvatore Family and the Gilbert Family before being turned into a school — was originally filmed at a historic property in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
The 1929-built Glenridge Hall lent its stately Tudor Revival-style exteriors to film the first seasons of The Vampire Diaries. But since they were using it so often, the production crew decided to rebuild it as a set. And lucky they did, as the historic Sandy Springs house was later reportedly demolished to make way for Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. headquarters.
The “Lovecraft Country” house
Remember the stately LaGrange house (known as Bisham Manor) that played the role of Hill Manor? The same mansion was featured in Lovecraft Country as Mr. Titus Braithwhite’s Lodge.
Also known as the Sons of Adam Lodge, the imposing house is said to be located in the fictional town of Ardham in Devon County, Massachusetts (a nod to the town of Arkham in author H.P. Lovecraft’s stories), but the LaGrange, GA mansion stepped in to assume the role.
Another Georgia property — the Parrott-Camp-Soucy House in Newnan, pictured here — played the role of the Winthrop House, the run-down Chicago mansion Leti buys in Episode 3.
Scott’s house in “Teen Wolf”
In Teen Wolf, Tyler Posey portrays a young werewolf who defends his California town of Beacon Hills from supernatural creatures and other threats. But the first two seasons were filmed entirely in Georgia.
Therefore, some recognizable Teen Wolf filming locations like Scott’s house, the OG Beacon Hills High School, the Hale house, and the Argent house (the former residence of Chris Argent, Victoria Argent, and Allison Argent, an ancient family of Werewolf Hunters) are all located in Georgia. Scott McCall’s house is located in southwest Atlanta, close to West End Mall, according to local insiders.
The Corner Spa in “Sweet Magnolias”
Have you been charmed by the historic mansion-turned-spa from ‘Sweet Magnolias’? Then you’ll be happy to learn it’s real! But we can’t say the same about the town of Serenity.
The entire show was shot in Covington, Georgia (a city that proudly branded itself as “The Original Hollywood of the South” due to the many movies and TV shows that have been filmed here), with a historic mansion known as the Lee-Porter House playing the part of the Corner Spa.
The White House in “The Oval”
Bet you didn’t know Georgia has its own White House!
Part of Tyler Perry’s expansive Atlanta studios, the White House replica — set in the former Fort McPherson military base — was used extensively in Tyler Perry’s The Oval series. Built to be 80% to scale, the White House replica includes authentically designed interiors, meant to mirror the actual Oval Office to a tee.
The sprawling “Greenleaf” mansion
The popular OWN TV drama might take place in Memphis, Tennessee, but the imposing mansion of the Greenleaf family is located in Stonecrest, Georgia.
Set within the Allen Entrepreneurial Institute, the 38,000-square-foot Antebellum-style mansion is known as Miss Rebecca’s house and has an impressive total of 19 bedrooms and 29 bathrooms.
Doom Manor in “Doom Patrol
The fictional Doom Manor, which serves as the base of operations for the Doom Patrol, is actually the historic Briarcliff mansion in Atlanta, Georgia.
The former home of Asa Griggs “Buddy” Candler Jr., the eccentric son of Coca-Cola co-founder Asa Griggs Candler, the Georgian Revival mansion was built in 1922 and now serves as the Briarcliff Campus of Emory University.
“The Circle” apartment building
Georgia is also a popular filming location for reality TV shows, with quite a few series moving production here to take advantage of the state’s tax incentives. Chief among them is the popular reality competition series The Circle.
After filming the first 5 seasons in the same UK building where all the international versions of the show (The Circle UK, The Circle Brazil, and The Circle France) took place, Season 6 takes place stateside in Atlanta, Georgia. The building at the center of the action? The Sonder Midtown South apartment building at 126 Renaissance Pkwy NE in Midtown Atlanta.
“The GOAT” manor
The new Prime Video reality series hosted by comedian Daniel Tosh of Tosh.0 fame, was filmed almost entirely at an NFL star’s former Atlanta mansion.
GOAT Manor is located in the College Park neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, and is the former home of retired NFL player Robert Mathis. The property has over 26,000 square feet, 9 bedrooms and 17 baths, giving the production crew enough space for all the challenges while also accommodating the contestants and crew.
