If watching Netflix’s hyped new series, No Good Deed, got you hooked on the house at the center of the story, that’s very much intentional.
Carefully picked to be desirable enough to start a real estate frenzy like the one pictured on the show, the 1920s Spanish-style villa Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) own in the new Netflix series is pure “dream house” material.
No Good Deed was inspired by showrunner Liz Feldman’s own house search, which took place during the pandemic and put a more eerie spin on the house-hunting experience.
“Every time I entered a new house, there was almost always some odd detail or unexpected moment, sometimes funny, and a few times… creepy. And I realized that every house has its secrets,” says Feldman.
“Then, as my wife and I were selling our house, I realized, “Oh, yeah — we have some, too.”
Secrets aside, the Morgan house is one spectacular abode, one that you might even find on Realtor.com if you go looking for it. But don’t place your bids quite yet.

The house is up on Realtor.com
The real estate search portal has the house listed simply as ‘The Morgan House’, with its description mentioning that it has 3 beds, 2 baths, and “A few secrets”. Featuring a “soundproof attic”, a “workshop”, and “whole home surveillance”, the property is said to be located in “a killer neighborhood”.
The listing page reads: “New to market! This stunning family home is ready for its close up.
Don’t miss out on this classic Spanish-style villa in the highly-coveted Los Feliz neighborhood. Feast your eyes on the light-filled kitchen—complete with locking cabinets.
Relax in the cozy living room with an original wood-burning fireplace, and explore the gorgeous outdoor space where you’ll find a workshop shed fully outfitted with power tools sure to delight any DIY enthusiast. Whole home surveillance installed and functional. Welcome to your new home!”
It introduces The Morgans as the sellers
“Hi, we’re Paul and Lydia Morgan and we’re happy to welcome you to your future home,” the Realtor.com listing continues.
“We raised our kids here and filled this home with memories and more. We hope you’ll enjoy some of the upgrades we’ve made, including a beautiful new kitchen, light-filled living room complete with grand piano, and fully soundproofed attic. We’re sad to be leaving beautiful Los Feliz, but we’re glad to leave you with this home and everything it holds…”
However, the house is not for sale
Sorry to burst your bubble if you were genuinely interested in the property, but the Los Feliz house is not for sale.
The mock listing is part of the TV show’s promotional efforts — hence the unique description, lack of address, profile of the sellers, and quirky mentions of “locking cabinets” and “killer neighborhood”. Other fun promos include a 3-minute video where the cast of No Good Deed walks us through the set of the house.
This gets us to our next point: Is the house even real?
Only exterior shots were filmed on location
Turns out, the beautiful home we see on screen is real, but only select scenes have been filmed here.
A real Los Angeles house was used for exterior shots, with the Netflix team telling us that “the interior of the house as depicted on the show is all built on sound stages”.
While we couldn’t get any information on the actual property featured, we did get some tidbits on its location.
On the show, the house is firmly placed in the ritzy hillside enclave of Los Feliz, a Los Angeles neighborhood abutting Hollywood and weaving through parts of the Santa Monica Mountains, the No Good Deed house used for filming “is not technically in Los Feliz”.
How they chose the house
Even if it may not be located in Los Feliz, the house was carefully picked for the show, and when showrunner Liz Feldman first saw it, it was instantly clear that the home was a perfect fit.
“We found the house in the show through our incredible location manager, Stephenson Crossley, whom we tasked with finding the kind of house that anybody would want,” Felman says.
“I know when I first saw the house, I had an immediate emotional response. I just loved it. I wanted to keep looking at it. I wanted to go inside it. It was a pretty easy “yes,” because it’s just such a sweet house that promises a lot of love and warmth — but also some potential surprises.”
A full replica of the house was built on a sound stage
Finding the right house was just the first step though.
Production designer Nina Ruscio and the talented art department built a whole house on a sound stage, meticulously modeled after the Los Angeles home.
“We went, and we found a house that we loved, and then Nina and her team built us a full replica, which is really, really cool,” showrunner Liz Felman clarified, adding that “there’s a full house on our sound stage. I don’t think people will realize that it’s a set, but it is.”
The show was inspired by the creator’s search for her own ‘dream house’
Feldman also opened up about her own house-hunting experience and how it gave her the premise for No Good Deed. “This show was inspired by my search for my “dream” house,” says the Emmy-winning creator and showrunner.
“I started looking during the pandemic; it was a very weird, dark time. I saw over 50 houses, and every time I stepped into a new door, I could just feel the stories, the history. I was so curious about what had specifically happened within those walls.”
“Every time I entered a new house, there was almost always some odd detail or unexpected moment, sometimes funny, and a few times… creepy. And I realized that every house has its secrets. Then, as my wife and I were selling our house, I realized, “Oh, yeah — we have some, too,” Feldman concludes.
Feldman considers the house to be ‘the most important character on the show’
Feldman goes on to say “The house is probably the most important character on the show. It embodies so much; the way that we imbue our homes with our dreams and our fears and expectations in life. Our houses take on a life of their own. We expect them to protect us, hold us, keep us safe, express who we are as people — but also contain our secrets.
“We’re giving life to our homes as we live in them. And I wanted to explore that.”
It’s also worth noting this isn’t the first time Feldman has managed to make a house one of the starring characters on her shows. Her previous Netflix drama, Dead To Me, also featured a picture-perfect house that contrasted the dark storyline of the show.
